Gilbert Allard (1948-1968) designed over 80 film posters and worked for the Jacques Fourastié advertising agency. His work is particularly distinguished by the quality of his portraits. He is notably responsible for the sublime poster for Marcel Camus's film Black Orpheus (1959) and for Jean-Luc Godard's film Contempt (1963).
